Archives

The museum has very extensive archives, consisting of various collections, all of which have great historical value. Our volunteers are currently working on digitizing and further archiving. We receive help from, among others, the Maritime Museum. The collections provide an overview of the history and heritage of shipbuilding at the time of industrialization in Amsterdam. Ultimately, this information will be made available. If you have any questions about the archive or if you have material that could be interesting to include in the archives, please contact the 'Kromhout archive team' via khm.archief@gmail.com

The current archive currently consists of:

More than 60,000 technical drawings of, among others, Kromhout engines, tools and parts.

A collection of more than 600 books, including textbooks, reference works, books about engines, the Kromhout factory and people, manuals and information about parts of the various engine types.

An overview of printing; colorful leaflets, brochures, posters and magazines, intended for sales and providing an overview and specifications of different engine types. Museum objects including miniatures, art, engine parts and tools.

An extensive film, video and photo image library of historical material and of the current museum.

Complete business administration: including correspondence, business administration, reports and remarkable logbooks.

In addition to our extensive archive, the still working collection of Kromhout engines is of course on site. You can see (and hear !) these engines in operation every Tuesday and third Sunday of the month!
