the Amsterdam Seaport Days 2025

Seaport Days 2024 were a great success.
During the Seaport Days 2024, it was pleasantly busy in the Kromhout museum.
• Museum ‘t Kromhout was open on Saturday 29 June and Sunday 30 June.
• Historic ships, an old tugboat and an old passenger ferry (formerly from Volendam to Marken) were sailed, both with a historic Kromhout engine.
• Amsterdam’s old fire-fighting boat, the Jan van der Heyde II (1930) also visited the jetty of the museum, where it was also possible to sail.
• It was possible to participate in a workshop on ’Engine Dismantling’.
• On Sunday 30 June at 15.00 hrs, the English translation of the book “Motor Vessel Bregetta, sailing through time 1914-2019” was presented.
The author of the book and owner was present. Her ship was moored at the museum. The presentation was introduced by Midas Dekkers, well-known writer/biologist but also a lover of historic ships.
• Maritime walks Eastern Islands led by a guide to all maritime historical sites.
• There were also educational activities for children, including a puzzle tour through the museum.
Without exception, the reactions of the visitors were enthusiastic.

Amsterdam Museum and Museum om de Hoek have started a collaboration within the theme ‘Collect the city’ to set up a temporary exhibition “Collecting the City” in which Amsterdam’s past and present play a central role. In the Amsterdam Museum (the Hermitage) there is an overview of members of Museum om de Hoek. Visitors can use a QR code to get all the information about the participating museums and thus get an impression of the city’s past and present.
